George Holme played a pivotal role in the creation of Nanoose Place in the early 1990’s as a dedicated member of the Nanoose Bay Lions Club; of which he was made an honorary member in 1988.
George served the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) as Director for Area E for 29 years starting in 1983 and he served as chair of the RDN board for ten of those years. He was a long-time champion of Nanoose Place as a Community Centre and believed strongly in its value as a gathering place and hub for the community. He was also Nanoose Bay’s first Fire Chief in 1972.
The funds are to be used for much needed building renewal projects and renovations to our Community Centre. NBARS will use funds in priority of need.
Currently highest on the list is replacement of our septic system, (approximately $120,000.00). The hall also needs six new exterior doors replaced (approximately $30,000.00).
